I have received some ridiculously low offers in the mail from land companies offering to buy a vacant 160 acre rural land parcel that I used to own. The last one offered something like $2357 and some cents, and it included a sales agreement that I was just supposed to sign. It cracks me up as I sold it for $120,000 last year. There must be people out there that fall for these crappy offers or they would not send them out I suppose?

I've received offers like that in the mail, too. I just put them in my circular file. They're just looking for that one individual who is absolutely desperate to sell. (They must waste a LOT of postage!)

It’s better than the ridiculously high offers I’ve gotten on a classic car of mine only to get lowballed when calling and/or meeting the individuals. At least you didn’t waste anymore time than reading the letter.

My mom is a realtor and has told me of colleagues that’ll send out letters to the owners of homes in a client’s target neighborhood offering the world only to come in with a realistic offer. I guess you have to get a persons attention somehow? Don’t know why someone would low ball off the start though? Maybe the previous poster is right and every now and then you get someone desperate? You probably could get someone stupid as well, or sadly, someone who doesn’t have all their capacities and no one to look out after them.

Just toss the letter in the garbage. We all get letters like that.

The Realtors are looking for potential clients before someone else does. This is not unusual in any way. Junk mail has been around for several decades and the way to deal with it is to throw it out/recycle if you are not interested.

Hopefully the person sending that junk mail includes a stamped self-addressed envelope which can be used to return said piece of junk mail to sender. You can include various other pieces of junk mail you've gotten just to annoy said sender.
