Retired and have our house on the market to move 2500 miles away.
When COVID flared back up, we considered/are considering waiting till spring to sell/move to avoid any issues. The family where we are going thinks COVID is fake and they don't take it seriously.
We got an offer on our house and now we have to decide: take it and move and take our chances. Or, stick it out here and hope the market doesn't crash or change drastically. Bird in the hand....
Just venting.
I don't see how C19 really figures into this, unless you are saying when you move 2500 miles away you will be staying with other people who don't take it seriously.
If that's the case, rent while you look to buy.
Just because you will be closer to family doesn't mean you have to see them.
What? You've already made the decision to move. If you weren't ready to sell the house why did you list it? It's the fact that sorting, packing, downsizing or whatever are now realities. All that would happen regardless of Covid-19. Don't see what your relatives have to do with it unless you've moving in with them. Otherwise, you can control whether you spend time with them or not.

Frankly, other than the media's induced panic, nothing has changed. But, it's your sale to lose for whatever reason; but if you had such worries, you shouldn't be trying to sell right now anyway..
Because if you are moving in with them, I'd wait. But if you are just moving near them, take the offer and sell (if it is an offer you like). And, when you get to the new location, you don't have to be in physical contact with anyone you don't want to; family or not.

What does "the family where we are going" mean?
I assume it's not a full-price offer with no contingencies, because I would think you would HAVE to accept that!

That sounds cut-and-dried but somehow it is never that simple when you're dealing with family. Look at the threads in Non-Romantic Relationships. Lots of people trying to figure out how to tell their relatives nicely, "No, you cannot come visit us this holiday season."
I wouldn't want to live anywhere near stupid pushy people, so I think I get the OP's concern.
OP, if you can wait it out until spring, when there's a better chance of vaccination, I would do that. Unless the offer you've gotten is just so darned good you can't pass it up. OTOH, if your family doesn't believe in the virus, they probably don't believe in vaccination, either.
