That is still a he!! of a lot of house for a downsize.
Well, to be honest it was more house than I wanted but the price was right and the location and all that and the utility bills and taxes are a LOT less, plus, no pool and huge yard to take care of. But I agree - it is still a biggish house.
It’s a beautiful house. It would sell for at least double here. We are putting our house on the market Friday. A professional photographer comes tomorrow. It’s only 1400 sq ft and built in 1950. It’s listing for 400k. It’s a great neighborhood and prices are crazy with a hot market and not enough houses for sale. I am in the process of buying a condo. Looking forward to starting my new life.
This all sounds so good. I seriously considered a condo, but the house I'm moving to wasn't even on the market, and I know the woman who owns it, and we were able to put together a good deal for both of us, I believe. But I sure did like that condo!
I love this house and this neighborhood and this area (staying in the area in fact) and will hate to sell it, but it's too much property for me. The other house is smaller, but in a very nice neighborhood I'm familiar with (I even used to live in a house built by the same builder!). So smaller taxes, smaller yard, smaller utilities, you name it. I am looking forward to it.
I have got to get out of my state. That is definitely a $700,000 or more house here. Some 50s/60s era houses at just 1,000 sf in my area are selling in the low $300's. Mind boogling!
So, there you have it: Leave it "decorated" with all your stuff, or put your things away so people are looking at the house?
Let the discussion begin !
My realtor knows I plan to move out before closing. In fact, she knows that I will start packing things up soon. She specifically wanted the professional photos done before I took my furniture and doodads out of the house so I said, "Well, OK." I mean, I didn't know. And I am NOT a minimalist in any sense of the word, as you can tell!
She said, "Your house shows so well with your things in it." I guess that's fine by me because I am not ready to move quite yet and it's got to show with me still living in it!
I mean, what would I do with my stuff? I am not going to move twice, and store things in storage, and all that jive. The house I'm buying is still owned by the buyer who is still living there too. I don't want to mix up my things with hers anyway, even though I know and like her.
People will just have to use their imaginations, I guess.
I got a full price offer but it was contingent and their house is not under contract and I don't know a thing about it, so my realtor told their realtor to regroup and try to come back with an offer that's not contingent. I mean, I would do one if their house is already under contract but otherwise, I'm not desperate yet.
