Why the kitchen? Maybe if it were in an atrium, or a playroom, or even a big airy stairwell, perhaps I could understand the appeal, but why put it in the kitchen?
This ^
If they'd designed the house to put the tree in the living room or atrium just off the living room or foyer, it would have been brilliant, a major plus. However, in the kitchen? Why?

A several story high tree suddenly grew out of the kitchen floor overnight ?? This is something that had to be carefully planned and designed around and not a mere accident. I agree that it is not a good idea to have in the kitchen for a number of reasons, but what's done is done and the new owner will work around it as best as they can. I am not criticizing anyone, just my $.02 worth.......
I actually would like a house like that in the woods IF the kitchen placement did not interfere with the basic function of a kitchen. I mean, people often have big islands in the kitchen, so why not a tree? (Although, granted, a kitchen island does serve a purpose!)
But, then, on second thought -- wouldn't little creatures (bugs to squirrels) potentially cause problems??
The listing doesn't even mention the tree, just talks about being walking distance to restaurants, the bay, etc. Forget about the pink elephant in the room, can we talk about the giant tree in the room?
FWIW -- I never understood why real estate listings are frequently not upfront about the "elephant in the room" -- in this case, that can almost be taken literally, lol!
It would seem that stating an obvious problem would prevent much wasted time on the part of both sellers and buyers.

It's something that *should* have been planned and designed around, but they didn't! It's like they stuck a stock design on the property without the tree changing a thing.
I've seen homes built around trees that formed a staircase, or the center of an atrium. It was a design element! They weren't just plopped awkwardly in front of a cabinet.
I do like the Realtor though... Embrace the weird.
I wouldn't mind having a tree growing in the middle of my house if there was a good way to seal out weather without damaging the tree. I'm not confident that it can be done.
Stupid house............I couldn't imagine the bugs inside the house with that tree in the kitchen. Lightning strike would be interesting for sure. 900K no chance unless that is the lot value.
