Redfin's Sale and Tax History used to show old listings and images.

I can still see previous transactions and small images, but something changed recently and when I click on images from old listings, they won't open. What am I missing?

Is this for one specific listing, or all?

Interestingly, for me, this depends on the state, in NJ, listing photos are removed at closing. In others, they seems to stay with the listing after sale, for approx a year, IME.

Just my opinion, but the prior listing agent typically owns those pictures and it is their decision what happens with them. As a realtor, we were strongly discouraged from using listing photos from previous listings and the original listing agent can request to have them removed if used without their permission. The listing photos are not "public domain" and were never meant to be. The OP's best bet would be to reach out to the prior listing agent for them, but there is no guarantee that they will allow it.

Sometimes they're still available in the MLS, sometimes agents or buyers elect to take them down when the sale closes. Whether public non-member sites are formatted to have a link to them depends on their membership and site design.

I will say we like when they are left up, at least for the short term after a sale, so we (and appraisers) can use them to compare comps!

We sold our former home 6 years ago and our listing photos (all 25 of them) are still on Redfin. These come up just by searching on the address.

Try one of the other half dozen real estate sites that pop up when you google the listing.

At least where I live it seems that removing old photos is way down the list of things to do after buying a house.

I believe Redfin is like Zillow and Trulia in that an owner can 'claim' the house as theirs and remove listing photos.

Sold mine Oct 2015 and pics are still up on zillow. Realtor doesn't have up them anymore.

Might also want to look at the Internet Archive, also known as the “Wayback Machine” to see cached versions of the listing, too.

I often google the address and can find them somewhere. The exception is when a house goes back up for sale, 99% of the time everything picks up the new pix and the old ones are gone.
