We found out the my "mother" was selling the house she & my dad built & closed on right before he was diagnosed with cancer about a year after they bought it. We immediately got an agent and put in a bid which was rejected. Tried again, no answer. Since I'd just had back surgery I wasn't able to drive the 7 blocks to beg in person, a few months later when I was able to drive I went over there and was promised the house if it did not sell.
Eventually after 4 months of being on the market with no interest, yes she would sell to us. End of January 2007 I found out that she'd accepted an offer and went back to beg, asking that we be allowed to put in a counter offer.. nope.
So we'd already started getting our house ready for sale and I started looking for another house. I had a few I really liked in the beginning but the agent never got back to me, so who knows? After 7 long months and over 100 houses, we were about to give up when we found the one.
I'd trade this house in a heartbeat for my dad's but it wasn't meant to be and I'm ok with it.
