The latest buzz words in a tough real estate market: Wanna swap?
A sour economy and stricter loan requirements have left homeowners struggling to sell the traditional way. A growing number have gone online to find others willing to barter their way into new houses.
This is what I would like to see done: Create a national listing of homes. Seller/buyers could check the registry for a home in the location they want. Then, the owner of that house could find one where she wants, not just have to swap with the original seeker. I love bartering! Keep the IRS out of it, if possible, based on assessments. It would help with the problem of excess inventory. The government should oversee it so there would be no fees paid by traders. Why wasn't THAT part of the "almighty" bail-out?
