Are people still purchasing homes with the economic crisis that's going on?

Surprisingly yes.. I have a closing on a waterfront home next week, and I just got off the phone with a woman that is going to jump on a plane and come down to look at a river front listing of mine.
People are still "cherry picking".

I'm building a house. If you have the money in a bank then you can pull it off. The biggest issue is for people without the down payment of 20% or more or people that had there money sitting in a stock market account for the deposit. Thankfully my down payment was in a money market account at my credit union. Other things like a pool or decorating items will have to wait until things turn around.

I think people who have cash will purchase their "Dream Home" if it comes on at the right price. There are probably still speculators and relo's purchasing, too.

With the D-word hovering out there in economists' mouths, we won't be purchasing unless it's the dream home. A big pile of cash is a nice security blanket right now.

I dont know about buying, but they are looking. I'm on day 22 of my listing and I've had about 8 showings. I have had one every day this week, so hopefully someone will buy

I have two closings for buyers in the next two weeks and two more scheduled for the start of Nov. It is slower than usual, but folks are still buying.

None of my buyers had any problems with financing.

And that is no dopubt because you prequalify your buyers before investing your time and money in finding them a place to call home.

I think people are still buying. I know we are looking and if any of the 3 short sales we have put in on come through, we will have a house. If they don't we will keep looking. We are pre-qualified and are putting quite a bit of money down. My real estate agent is busy all the time showing homes, so I think in the area we are looking at people are still buying, it's just taking longer for the deal to go through.
