I warn people every day about the "predaditors" on craigslist. I use craigslist myself for posting properties for rent but I also see the listings that foreclosures for sure and say only ..no credit check! etc. I warn my callers when they here my owners want first last and security but they don't listen and say well. I see lots of places that don't ask for that. Any you will see lots of people in foreclosure that won't tell you either. Just beware ...
Oh ... by the way.. I will add another tidbit to the mess ... I did get a call from 2 men moving down from Atlanta for business. They rented from a guy living in the house they wanted. He told them he was house sitting while the owners were in Europe. Once they paid him, he skipped town! He was actually a squatter living in the house and just waltzed away. Even the neighbors thought he was house sitting.
Not that it's funny, but ya gotta laugh!
Very common problem.
I had a listing "copied" - copied text and photos and was attempting to scam potential tenants who responded. I contacted Craig's list and flagged the fake ad - Craig's list was VERY SLOW to respond but did remove the ad - only to have yet another copied ad reappear.
It's a major problem on Craigs list!
