CrazyMa, you have more ambition in your little finger than I have in my whole body!
I found out this afternoon that my Aunt Liz, who lives about 25 miles from me near the sound, had a stroke...she has been in the hospital since about a week and a half ago, she fell and broke a hip, had surgery, was in rehab place, now this so she is back at the hospital. She is my mom's only sibling left living and I have been trying to get my mom to fly up here from SoCal. I think she will soon, when I talked to mom tonight, she said she would probably come up after Auntie returns home, I think they are going to get a home care nurse..Shelly you probably can tell me more about what they might do. My cousins and I are ready to go over and spend time with her
and keep her company. She is 87...lives by herself but has been doing really well until recently. Oh and she is now blind in one eye..she had just started going to a creative writing class and was writing a memoir of sorts, I read through what she had started a few weeks ago, it was great! So hopefully she can continue, maybe she can talk and we can take turns writing..
Anyway, prayers for her recovery appreciated..
Watching idol, i don't know what the heck Paula has on, looks like a bird in her shoulder with those feathers, lol..Simon hates everything as usual...even Paula is not very positive tonight...DH says they are rough tonight, the judges...oh well I like them all, they do better then anything I could do!

Hi Barb,
Well, the first questions I would be asking are these...
1. Has the stroke evolved completely--in other words, has she finished stroking? Strokes evolve over time and until it has evolved completely, it's difficult to know how much damage was done to the brain.
2. What was affected by the stroke--what part of the brain? ie: if it affected the occiptal region of the brain (part that controls eyesight)--blindness could result. Each part of the brain controls different things as you know.
3. What type of stroke? Thrombolytic--meaning clot? Was she on coumadin that could have prevented the stroke? Or was it a bleed into her head, maybe caused by coumadin?
Barb-prayers for your Aunt Liz. Overheard a conversation yesterday one woman had knee replacement, home in 3 days and had chest pains. Her doctor told her it was a "sympathy heart attack"-never heard of that before.
Barb you'll look beautiful. I bought my polish from my salon to take with as it's perfect with my gown. Packing today and hopefully out of this frozen tundra tomorrow. It's 33 below zero w/28MPH winds.
Late riser here! I am so out of shape, lol, worked in the yard most of yesterday and boy did I sleep. Not to be ugly but I got my first slight sun burn! Not braggin' or complaining but it was our first hot day at 80 with full sun. Loved it and thought of all of you in the snow lands. Think we may now skip the spring weather and go straight to heat. Todays plans include more yard work, I still have about 4 acres to do. It would be so great to say this is the last time I have to do it. Oh day dreams!!!!
Lacey, How long to plan on being gone? Personally I would not head back till all the snow was gone! You said you are getting a new car while up there, what are you getting? I am in need of one too, but waiting to figure out if I will be a city dweller or country gal once again. I have not bought a car since 1973! Since then it has been trucks and more trucks.
Painter we currently have an '02 SantaFe (Hyundai) and love it. We're giving ours to our grandson and getting a new one. If I could only stay I would but doctors orders for early April. Last April 28th we had 15" of snow!
I hope you dont get the snow again in April! Bet your grandson is counting days now too, he's got freedom on the brain for sure. That gift is gonna get you alot of hugs!
Shelly, I talked to my cousin Dixie, she is the daughter pretty much in charge with my aunt Liz..she was sitting up eating this morning...she said her white blood count was high and was waiting for the dr. to come in and see if they are going to keep her at St. Pete's or send her to a different nursing home for a few days before she goes back home..I guess she had a bedsore on her lower back from the other nursing home or rehab, and that is not good after only one week so I was glad they are sending her somewhere different. Also, when she does get home, there are two wonderful gals that took care of my cousin Vicki when she was terminal cancer last year, they are set to come help my aunt. Us cousins are for the most part on board if she needs companionship or just someone to sit and visit..
I don't know about her medications..I know she has some heart problems... I appreciate all the concerns you raised and I will ask when I see Dixie...I know that the hospital is a good one so that gives a little comfort. We might go see her tonight if she is settled in a nursing home or still in the hospital.
Ok I need to finish my breakfast shake and try those dresses on..cross your fingers girls that one of them fits..lol...
