But Silverfall is correct in that the title company won't discuss the transaction with you unless you're one of the parties to it.
I thought Texas was like some of the east coast states where an attorney reviews the real estate contracts. We don't have attorney review out here on the West Coast.

Most east coast states in the south have attorneys handle the closing but they aren't attorney review states. The NE has a lot of attorney review states.

So there are escrow states like Oregon (no attorneys), attorney close states (like Texas??), and then attorney review states like NJ.

In Texas, the title company handles closings, holds earnest money checks in escrow, etc. As I said, the title company has attorneys, and if there's something complicated or wonky I might have (and have had) the buyer or seller consult an attorney, but for most cases, it's the real estate agents and the title company, no attorneys.

Okay...so you're an escrow state like we are then. Somehow I got the impression that attorneys were involved in your transactions like on the east coast.
