At what temperature should you keep a vacant house in order to avoid freezing pipes or other issues like that?

Thanks.

If the house has been properly winterized you don't have to run the heat at all. A plumber in my area will do this for $70.

True...sort of. Damage to the house other than plumbing damage can occur if it is kept unheated for long periods of time in an area where it gets below freezing during the winter months. When my house was vacant for a year, I kept the thermostat at 50 during the cold months.
