What frustrates me about this site is that people have a hard time staying on topic - why do responders constantly go off in directions that do not help the person who asked the original question? There are often several pages where responders exchange comments that have nothing to do with the topic. I click on a question/comment of interest, read the original question/comment only to find that most of the dialogue is not related to what drew me to the blog in the first place.
Hey city-data how about establishing a Forum for those of us who just want to vent about whatever -you can call it the "Bit_ _ ing Forum" and this is my contribution.

Many OP's don't really ask specific questions, but state an opinion and wait for feedback.
In those cases, yup, you're gonna get posts going in every direction but they all usually can be traced back to the OP's comment/opinion.

It's called conversation. Whether it's in person or on a forum, it's going to happen (unless you're in a classroom or conference, and even then, it will sometimes happen).
The moderators are pretty good about gently directing it back on topic if it gets too far afield for too long, but anything more strenuous, being in direct opposition to human nature, is all too likely to kill the forum, and we certainly wouldn't want that!
In order to have a healthy forum you need conversation. Some of that means personalities are going to come out with some joking as well as off target conversations.
I have also found that the mods steer the conversation back to the topic at hand when it gets too far off in left field. You can always jump in and steer the conversation back to the topic at hand.
go over to Crazy Camp Forum. We always stay on topic!
