Below is a link that quantifies this from 1982-2000. There are many more links, you just have to Google 'Realtor assaults open house".

Not at an open house. But about 4 years ago a lady in our town was shot 3 times when meeting a "client" at a property.

There was also the guy that was just killed in CA at a house, and a female agent was killed last year at a vacant house.

As previously mentioned, I have no doubt that when a guy came in thru the back door at an Open House I sat and qucikly advanced within my personal space, that his intention was harm. I fled that house wearing my socks.

I think close call - heebie- jeeb encounters are far more common than the general public knows.

I don't understand why that guy shot her. It seems they didn't know each other, and no robbery mentioned. Maybe just a crazy guy?

I once overheard someone warning their friend who's going to see a house to buy that she should not go alone for fear of a fake realtor or bad realtor or something like that. Ever heard such things happening?

It is the crazy ones that always get you. Hard to guard against them.

Never heard of a fake agent. We tend to be pretty public with car signs, offices, websites, etc. Just on Monday my wife was on office duty talking to a female sign caller who wanted to look at a listing. My wife scheduled the showing and called me to meet the customer. When my wife called back to confirm, the customer told her she did not feel comfortable having a "Man" show her the house. My wife rescheduled after her duty was over and the customer never showed or answered the phone. It was kind of odd and you could imagine several scenarios resulting from it.

Real estate agents work work the general public, often in confined spaces and private locations. A percentage of the general public trends towards violence, intentional harm or are otherwise insane.
