all I've learned so far is: Don't trust anybody.

The real estate "biz" is about as shady as the used car business, from the builder developing swampland in a drought, to the crook who lobbies Congress for preferential treatment.

1. Nobody really cares about your property the way you, the person making the payments, does.

2. 90% of buyers and have no imagination nor market savvy.

3. Most people buy on emotion, not logic or business sense.

4. Never let a renter get more than one month behind or try to be compassionate beyond that.

5. Renters watch too much HGTV and will go crazy with paint, no matter what you tell them.

Hi gold*dust.

Sorry, I don't know who you are, but I typically give rep for insightful or informative posts.

The whole purpose of any lobby/PAC is use of financial resources, argument and clout to persuade others to see their point of view. There are as many lobbiests/PAC as their are causes/business segments in the U.S.

Such groups are legal in the U.S. and common in Europe. I am hard-pressed to think of anything that does not have a shady side.

Here's one of the more interesting stories with shades of many colors:

Former drug addicted dentist lost his license. He started a new business to " harvest" tissue from corpses, without family consent. He did so with the knowledge of the funeral home management who benefitted. Tissue was sold to the black market who resold tissue for transplant and research.

Are all dentists drug addicts?
Do all drug addicts lose their professional licenses?
Are there people in all funeral homes, harvesting tissue without consent?
Are all funeral home directors involved in harvesting of tissue?
Are all tissue used for transplant, harvested from corpses without family consent?

Should I refrain from going to a dentist because, well, ya just never know... and here's the rub....bone grafting is a common dental procedure. Ever wonder where the bone comes from?

And it is the merit of their point of view which determines their degree of shadiness, in my eyes.
