My bro-in-law is now in the market for a home in Colorado.

We have a couple of investment homes in CDA/Hayden in Northern Idaho.

After pouring through listings, it seems that CDA/Hayden homes are quite attractive at these rates. Many nice 3-5 BR on nice streets are $170K-$250K. Some seem like gret deals. Young couples, both working? Great access to real estate.

Colorado prices are much closer to California prices.

If course we need to scale this by income for young people. Although for older couples affordability on an absolute scale may be more relevant.

Thoughts on CDA/Hayden, Colorado, or your market?

S.
P.S. Whoops! I meant to type, "thinks!"

All of Colorado vs. a city in Idaho?

Some home prices in CO are in line with CA (Mountain Communities) - but nowhere near the same on the plains (the front range to Kansas) as in CA.

I'm guessing your BIL is not looking all over CO, but in a small area of the large state.

What does your area of Idaho offer compared to the areas your BIL is looking at? There are all sorts of areas wher you can buy property much cheaper than other areas.

We have a house on the market in Bangor Maine -- 2500 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths for $166k. The same house in some other areas would be several times that, and probably cheaper in some other places.
