Apologies for yet another question about the $8000 tax credit! (claim, house, money)

I searched and didn't find the answer to my specific question, though I'm sure its out there...

So if I close on a house in April 2010, it would seem the FTHB tax credit would be associated with my 2010 taxes. Does that mean I wouldn't see the money until after I filed my 2010 taxes in early 2011?

You can file with 2009 taxes (or amend if already done).

you can also file for extension, or amend your existing return
