I searched and didn't find the answer to my specific question, though I'm sure its out there...

So if I close on a house in April 2010, it would seem the FTHB tax credit would be associated with my 2010 taxes. Does that mean I wouldn't see the money until after I filed my 2010 taxes in early 2011?

Thank you.

You can file with 2009 taxes (or amend if already done).

http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/...204671,00.html

"For qualifying purchases in 2010, taxpayers have the option of claiming the credit on either their 2009 or 2010 return."
