Does anyone know what the different types of water, plumbing are? For instance does anyone still have a well? What about above ground vs below ground sump pumps? Going to start looking at real estate and just want to know the things I am not familiar with, but might eventually have to deal with if I bought the property.
Out here homes outside the city limits are on wells. If you are looking at acreage, you will most likely have a well.
Sump pumps are typical (at least out here) for homes that sit below street grade (ie the street is higher than the house) and for homes in flood plains. You'd have to really learn what your local norms are for those.
Depending on where you live you might need to be worried about Orangeburg pipes.
You know there is a lot to know. If you tell the forum what kind of property you are looking at they might be able to offer you better advice. What I would tell a buyer of a home in a subdivision is totally different than someone that buys acreage property.
