How does your family react when you decide to try new recipes? Is everyone supportive or do you encounter some resistance at times? ....How do you handle all of it? ...How often do you try new recipes? Does your family like "tried and true favorites" the best? Thanks.
My family loves it when I try new stuff....they have their favorites, the ones they ask for all the time, but if I say ... I found this new recipe with ...whatever ingredients...then they usually react well. I have never been big on cooking until I lost my job recently ...now all I do is look for new things to make....so I'm always making new stuff
It is only my husband and I and he never knows what he will be getting for dinner, especially now because I am enrolled in Top Chef University.
I am fortunate because he is not a picky eater, he designed and built my kitchen around the way I cook, so everything is very functional. He is very truthful and would rather eat at home then going to a restaurant because he feels that I cook better then any restaurant in our area. He said just last night the only thing he can remember that he hated that I made in 30 yrs. was Tabouli he said if he wanted to eat dirt he would go in the garden. So to answer your question, I have 100% support here.

Great post! I love Tabouli! I haven't had it for years. I used to eat it when I worked at "Mother's Market & Kitchen" in CA. Do you still have your recipe for Tabouli? Thanks! It's great that you have so much support from your husband!

Sorry that you lost your job...I can relate to how you feel about cooking. My husband passed away last summer and cooking has helped me "go on!" I've really started to "spread my wings" in the kitchen just to have something to do and to feel "useful!" ...My son lives closeby and he comes over for dinner a lot to keep me company. Thank goodness my son loves to try new things! He's my "taste-tester" and a fan of my cooking! This sure helps!....I'm glad your family is so supportive of your cooking! Cooking gives me a sense of "power" and confidence. My life may be in "pieces" right now since my husband is gone but I can still do something! I can cook! And cooking has to be done everyday so we can "go on!"
Two teens playing sports and one college student they pretty much dont care what it is as long as there is a lot of it. I had one complain once. The next meal that one got a bowl of dog food. NEVER happened again.
It's just myself and my husband and he loves to eat. I don't think I would cook as much as I do if it was just for myself. He's very open to anything I try.
We all are trying something new constantly! Some are hits and some misses... But, we have our tried and trues to fall back on.
