ok so I originally grew up in NY and I talk about potato knish all the time and I just get looked at weird lol
it is my fave food from growing up and could probbly eat a million of them things
I am looking for a recipe for them but it is a particular type that I love and hope they still carry them when I go back to visit
the ones I'm talking about come from C-Town supermarket (the one by: I dont know if it's still called this p.s.95 in the bronx)
they are square and brown and the dough tastes kind of sweet and when you tear the dough apart if you separate from the potato the white on the inside pulls kind of like tearing a piece of mozzarella cheese apart without the stringyness
so does anybody know what the heck I'm talking about? if you do that would be great , hoping to hear back from you guys

I know what you are talking about. I'm a NY transplant and I havent had a knish in about 15 years.
I have no idea how to make them or where to get them around here.

I miss NY and it's food.
I've made these knishes which make me think of home. They don't have the exact outter crust you're looking for, but they will bring back memories:

There are a few places around here that sell Boars Head products, Publix being one of them.
Some of the Mom and Pop Sandwich shops also offer it.
Unfortunatly there is nothing in the way of a real Jewish/Kosher Deli.
There is one in Sarasota.. But they lie like bugs under a rug.
They may be Kosher, but it is in no way a real Jewish Deli Like they claim.
