I've shared this recipe with a few C-D'ers over the past several months, and someone suggested that I post it here. So here you go, kids - a recipe handed down in my family. My mom received the recipe from her Swedish great-aunt, around 1945.
SWEDISH MEATBALLS
3/4 lb ground beef 1/2 lb ground pork 1 well beaten egg 1/2 cup milk* 1/2 cup raw rice
Mix together and form into balls. Drop into following boiling sauce:
1 pint tomatoes 1 pint water 1 large onion, chopped 1 tsp. chili powder salt to taste
Bring sauce to boil and gently drop in meatballs. Simmer gently for 2 hours.
*Note ~ I use less than 1/2 cup milk. The meat mixture is a little too mushy otherwise and hard to form.
Thanks for posting it! I have printed and can't wait to try it!
