Lately I've decided that there's too much sugar in my diet, especially breakfast. But I love oatmeal - as in, steel-cut cooked overnight in a slow cooker. BUT! I also love spicy foods. Are there any such recipes for slow-cooked spicy oatmeal? Spicy sweet is ok as long as it's not too loaded with sugar, but I'd like to try something salty for a change.

Google isn't helping much, and I'm too much of a culinary noob to experiment and risk ruining alot of things that otherwise would've been edible. Regular rolled oatmeal is fine by the way, I'm not picky. Any ideas?

Do you add cinnamon and nutmeg to your oatmeal when you cook it? It0s very good that way, and adding a spoonful of raisins per serving a few minites before serving is good too.

I have before, but what I had in mind was something more a bit more unconventional. I have some jalapenos that I was thinking of using, so when I say "spicy", I mean peel the skin off the roof of your mouth spicy!
