While I have a few cookbooks, I just realised I've only actually used recipes from them maybe a handful of times. I don't really know why that is...maybe because I often buy 'recipe mixes' and use the recipe on the packet, or use recipes from the net etc. Sometimes I find they require so many ingredients.
I might try some more out though...it's cool having a cook book to refer too, but I often find myself not really that interested in cooking a lot of the dishes I see in cookbooks.
Rarely. Occasionally I look on the internet to see what kinds of things I might not have thought of, to add as ingredients. I don't own a paper cookbook. I use a recipe for baking things Ive never baked before, but that's pretty rare. For things Ive baked before, I don't even measure. The worst are recipes from newspapers or magazines. They nearly always are based on a package of convenience food, and are often not competently proofread, and have fatal mistakes.
Sometimes. My mom made me a cookbook for Christmas one year that has all the best of our family recipes in it, ones that won't be found in online collections. It's my preferred source. I rarely make complex recipes with lots of ingredients, because I don't have the patience for being that fussy. And I improvise a lot.
I don't look at cookbooks when I'm doing my routine, every day cooking. But when I want to make something special I'll often look for a recipe in my cookbooks.

wow, maybe it is the new and younger gerneration or maybe it is your locale: I have been using cook books since I was about 10 years old, and still do. My favorite are those put out by churches, or other charities. In fact I just got a new one a couple days ago: it is for a cancer resourse center fund raiser. They have helped us so much, I thought the least I could do is contribute to the organization. I bought 2 and will buy 2 more in a few months. I have to admit, some of my cook books I only use once in a blue moon, but I don't know what I would do without them and I have been cooking for years. I also depend on the internet. Even recipes I think I know backwards and forwards I still need to check measurements on occassion.
Yes, I have my homemade one and a ton of others. I'm a cookbook junkie.
Me too. And yes I do use them. I also use fairly frequently websites like allrecipes.com goodfood.com, and allrecipes in French as well.
