Rainy dreary day here in N.C. so I wanted to make chili for supper but only beans I have are pinto. I usually use kidney. will it make much difference.?

Are they canned or fresh? Flavored or unflavored?

I've used plain pinto beans (no pork or anything) and they were fine. I've used both canned and dry. Just as long as they're not seasoned with pork/bacon or whatever, I think you'll be okay.

any beans are good in chili. I have used black beans, pinto, red, cannellini, what ever is on hand.

I never put kidney beans in chili. They're gross. I ALWAYS use pinto beans, so there ya go!!

I find kidney beans in chili to be a midwest/Northeast curiosity.

I always use about 3 -4 different kinds of beans along with 2 lbs of ground turkey(or beef), plus much more, it's thick! Growing up in the Southwest that's how I was taught, and still love to this day!!
