My family drinks all of the traditonal sodas and juices along with iced teas. Does anyone have any creative ideas for non alcoholic beverages. Something that the kids would enjoy. I know a lot of folks make different types of fruit punch and that sort of thing. I am looking for different options for my family. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Pomegranate juice (such as POM brand) mixed in with diet cherry flavored carbonated water or with diet sprite or diet 7 Up. Pomegranate juice is very healthy...a bit pricey but just uss a splash of it.
Orange juice and 7 Up mixed together
Lemonade and 7 Up mixed together
7 Up and Sprite are great for mixing into other drinks, plus there is no caffeine, something kids don't need. Also, clear sodas are much better than dark sodas.
For homemade low fat milkshakes, use Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT evaporated)
Banana shake: 2 ripe bananas, cut up
1 - 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
1 cup of cold water
1/3 cup of lemon juice
2 cups of ice cubes
Combine all ingredients in the blender, except the ice
Gradually add ice, blending until smooth
Leftovers will stay thick and creamy in the refrigerator
The bananas can be substituted with 1 pint of cleaned and hulled strawberries or 2 cups of frozen strawberries
Recipe can also be made using 1 8oz can of crush juice-packed pineapple
We used make this one for baby showers, now that all our kids are older we make it for all family gatherings.
1/2 gal.sherbet (I like orange or raspberry)
48-60 oz.pineapple juice
1 2 ltr. ginger ale (chilled)
Delicious!
