What I have told here is just a minor excerpt of Indian meals that I am aware of .

My mom has 5 books with 280 recipes in total written by the top cooks in India, and I enjoy flipping through them. Sometimes, just looking at the pictures gets me tempted to make it. Around 85-90 % of the recipes are vegetarian as well.

Kulcha is a stuffed flatbread usually filled with small cut veggies and sometimes paneer. Here's the simple Recipe:

Sauce, cheese on some type of bread is fine if you are craving the taste of pizza and have not been exposed to just how delicious a real pizza is. But it just can't compare with traditional pizza (and I'm not talking about the convection oven baked chain pizzas). If you grew up eating a brick oven baked real pizza all these substitutes will not satisfy, but instead make you long for the real thing. Just check out how many posts on CD there are from transplants desperately searching for a decent pizza in their area.

I have made actual pizza as well starting out with fresh pizza dough. We don't buy Papa john's on Superbowl day, we make our own pizza .

I have always had crust trouble though. How do you make the crust rise up ?

Are you making the dough from scratch? If so, make sure your yeast is fresh and alive. I buy balls of frozen pizza dough from a local Italian deli. It's easy and fool proof.

That's what I do as well. There are plenty of Italian deli's here (32 in a 10 mile radius), so getting balls of frozen pizza dough is easy.

Anytime I ever made pizza I used large pita bread, English muffins or Made homemade pizza dough. True Italians like myself will tell you there is nothing like homemade dough for pizza and it's very easy to make.

Why large pita bread. Isn't that usually made for stuffing inside a pocket. Do you use it to make calzone instead of flat disc shaped pizza with it. I have never tried making Calzone's, so don't know much about them.

We have done "Pizza Bread" for years and it is not a good substitute for Pizza.
Pizza is a thin crust of dough, preferably with yeast, a thin layer of sauce, a few simple toppings, cheese on top, baked until the crust is crispy, cut into squares (in our home anyway) and enjoyed with a regular pepsi.
