Does anyone have a recipe for this square butter cake? (sugar, sweet)

I remember the German bakery when I was a kid that made this square cake, which was very buttery with little indentations on top and fine sugar on it. Does anyone have the recipe for this?

Hi Please check over on the Missouri state forum...Missouri Favorite Foods, posts number106 and post number 143. The recipe on post 106 came from a German bakery in my old neighborhood while living in St. Louis . Try it...it may just be what you are looking for. Very buttery and sweet and oh sooooo good. the one on post 143 is really a very shortened version.

Good luck if you try any of these recipes. and let me know how they turn out. I love Gooey Butter Cake. Hmmmmmm. So good. With a tall glass of cold milk.
