Making this on Christmas morning for hubby and I with a side of bacon.

1 loaf French bread cut into cubes
1 pint heavy cream
4 eggs beaten
1-2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 Tsp. nutmeg
2 Tsp. vanilla extract
2 Tsp. sugar
Place bread cube in a 9X13 buttered casserole dish. Mix all other ingredients in a bowl except sugar. Let soak into the bread for about 10 minutes. Sprinkle top with sugar and bake on 350 for 30 minutes. Serve with your favorite syrup. You can substitute the French bread for Challah or cinnamon raisin bread.

Sounds good. It is similar to the recipe I use.

I was thinking of trying a flavored liquid coffee creamer instead of the heavy cream. I bet it would be really good

Lubby,

This is quite similar to the Paula Deen recipe I make every Christmas morning. See below, but you prep it the night before and bake in the morning. I usually make it around dinner time put it in the fridge and then before going to bed, turn each piece over again and cover. No cleanup except for the baking dish on Christmas morning!!

I've done it with eggnog, it was tasty. I make my own "flavored" creamer, will have to try that too.

Sounds delectable!! Similar to a recipe we got from a relative, made with milk soaked bread, egg, cheese, and (precooked) bacon. It's called a breakfast strata. Like a breakfast lasagna. Speaking of lasagna, that is what I'm making on Christmas Day. MM MMM!

My wife uses sourdough bread, layers in cream cheese, cooked ground breakfast sausage, lets it soak over night, cooks it first thing Christmas morning. Tops 50/50 with boysenberry and strawberry preserves then sprinkles on powdered sugar.
