Has anybody ever used coconut milk instead of regular milk in hot cocoa, and if so did it ruin the taste?

I don't think so. There are many recipes on the net. Try it and see if YOU like it. Come back and report

It would for me, but I don't like coconut milk. If you do, it should be ok.

I wonder if it would end up tasting like a Mounds bar?

It certainly would not "ruin the taste" if one likes the taste of coconut.

Coconut and chocolate are complimentary flavors and used quite often together. There are candy bars and many types of desserts and snacks made with chocolate and coconut. So if one likes chocolate and coconut they may like that combination in hot chocolate.

Tabasco is hardly a complimentary flavor with chocolate.

FYI: you could try an Iced Cocoa, or even a Frozen Hot Chocolate. It's a beautiful beverage, just perfect for NOW

With a milk allergy, I use almond milk or coconut milk in a lot of things. I don't remember any strong coconut flavor in hot chocolate and if there was, I wouldn't have minded since I like the taste of coconut. I think coconut milk is diluted--it's not like drinking straight coconut cream. I used the canned coconut cream to make creamsicles and they did have a coconut flavor.
