Olive oil, adobo seasoning, and some cumin. Add chili powder and/or hot sauce if you like it spicier.

I just made some black beans from a can and I added sautéed onion and bacon along with some cumin and then simmered for about 30 minutes. I added cilantro at the end, but that's a personal preference. You could also add some chopped tomato or even a good spoonful of salsa.

I had a friend from Cuba, & when she made black beans from scratch, she added whole heads of garlic ( pricked ) & a couple of green bell peppers, she cooked it long enough for the green peppers to dissolve into the beans. Now I think I have to go make some

Use a ham bone, plenty of cayenne pepper, and chicken broth.

I always sautee garlic and onion in about a stick of butter, add eight cups of broth, use a pound or two of black beans, and the ham bone. Let cook for six hours or so then add the cayenne pepper.

Super easy
cumin and one chopped chipotle pepper - cut the pepper in half if you like a bit less spice

Include some bacon, sausage, salt pork, pork shoulder, or ribs (any combo you like) when you simmer the beans. I like to add a chopped onion and some Jalapeños or Serranos too.

Pork and beans is a thing for a reason. Goes together like bread and butter.
