My mother would boil them, then mash them with a potato masher together with cream cheese, and a little salt. Creamy squash! You could experiment with adding a little spice; cilantro goes well with squash. I should take my own advice, and try that sometime.

Creamy squash does sound good. Anything with cream cheese sounds good...
We loved these the way my mom prepared them. She would slice them about 1/2 inch thick slices, salted them to draw out excess moisture, then dipped them in flour, beaten seasoned eggs and breadcrumbs. Fry in oil, drain on paper towels.
Because of the unique shape of these squash when sliced, we called them fried lips. 👄

Oh thats what I forgot to plant this yr. Shucks!. I love those little squash!
