Just Bacon between any bread, bagel or English muffin is fine with me.

I don't think the lettuce is the problem. The problem is getting good tomatoes that taste like tomatoes instead of the hard tasteless tomatoes from the supermarket.

As long as you don't remove the B or the mayo, I'm good to go!

Iceberg lettuce is a fairly common food sensitivity problem for those of us with leaky gut. Y'all are welcome to any I am served. I can be fun to watch eating Taco Bell tacos from the bottom and leaving the top.

For many sandwiches, spinach and muenster (or swiss) cheese can be a good addition.

I like bacon, hot mustard, sweet tomato & a hearty bread. More savory, than sweet. No mayo.

When dining in a strange restaurant or cafe, I often order a BLT. I also make them in the summer with fresh beefsteak type tomatoes. We like a slice of provolone or Swiss sandwich cheese on ours.

The best sandwiches are made with good bacon and fresh, in season tomatoes. But often I order them when eating in strange restaurants, because they are hard to mess up.

I enjoy the lettuce on mine.

Since I can no longer have bread, I shred lettuce into a bowl, crumble bacon on it, dice a good Roma tomato, toss some shredded cheese and chunks of avocado, and make a mustard vinaigrette for a dressing. It's a fine substitute.

I never, ever used mayo on my BLT. Yuck! Always mustard for me.

If lettuce is in the fridge I use it. If not then no big deal. I just use more bacon. I'm not a purist for the sandwich as I add a thin slice of onion and some special pickles that are a little spicy and jalapeno pepper rings. I've been known to dump the mayo and use ketchup and mustard even... I can use straight mayo too. One of my musts is a good multi grain bread. For an added touch toasting the bread when mayo is used just seams right.
