Thanks so much for your post & link I appreciate it. I am so sorry that I am late replying to you,
I thought I already had done so Please forgive me
Since, they sell the ROSCA de REYES all the way until MARDI GRAS & or FAT TUESDAY, you could still buy & enjoy this wonderful treat Or you could make it, it is super easy & DELISH
Later on, you can make FRENCH TOAST with it, YUM!
EPIPHANY-HOLIDAY REPUTATION COOKIES going your way!THANK YOU!
And all week long, the various Tucson Mexican markets have been selling Rosca de Reyes cakes. I normally would have purchased a small one - most were for 25+ people. However, we have had so many sweet items in the past month that we decided to give it a break.
In Mexico the Roscas are sold everywhere. There are little figurine(s) in the Crowns. When you are served a piece with the baby in it you are supposed to sponsor a get-together on the 2d of Feb, that will include chocolate y tamales. People have allegedly swallowed the dolls so that they didn't have to sponsor the subsequent party. LOL I have made the cakes (and also the Pan de Muertos.)
Thank you for your kind post & details! Thanks for the link!
That is too funny!LOL! I can not believe that they would swallow the figure of the Baby Jesus to avoid hosting the Party on February 2nd-CANDLEMAS, LOL
February 2nd is the the real last day of the CHRISTMAS SEASON!
My family has always felt honored to do so. I remember 1 year a couple that my parents were friends with (while living overseas) said, "Oh, YOU ALL should Host the CANDLEMAS PARTY because M. is the BEST CHEF
in the world" (referring to my mother). A lot of times, people would "Volunteer" us for the Christmas, New Years & Candlemas Celebrations My mother did not mind, since she loved staying at home instead of
going to someone else's home.
