Lots of crisco up in there! I have never heard of the condensed milk toast.....never broiled it so was unaware that it would make golden brown spots. I am going to have to ask around and see if anyone knows about this.

Yes, you are right. Your post made me remember a dessert I had once, little fried balls of dough with a thinned out SCM sauce. I asked and they confirmed.
I vaguely remember a Girl Scout recipe that included white bread dipped in condensed milk and browned, possibly over a campfire. Did not like it.
