Thanks Lacey. This should add no more than another inch. After all what's one more. You know I've got to try it as this is a temptation that is irresistible. I just added it to my book. This maybe one for the family reunion coming up.

We just stick em in the oven and eat them plain. If you get a chance, pick up some Korean sweet potatoes some time. They have a reddish skin and light yellow flesh, and they have a kind of nutty flavor that's delicious.

I'll have to dig up a link for all that would like to have a hill or 2 in their garden or in a large patio pot. There are several varieties and one is an Asian white that is used for sweet potato chips. I never had them but understand you can buy the chips in oriental food stores. As soon as I find a source I'm trying them and if good will be planting some next spring.

I just bought several plump, red yams last night and will be baking them tonight for the spicy butter concoction - my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Post the link if you find it! Sounds like a fun project.

I finally found my link for plants. I see they have added more white or cream fleshed ones here now. This is a supplier that I think I used some years back when I had a large market garden. 1 row about 200 feet long produce enough for 3 families for the year. And those tiny immature baby bakers were so good when candied in dark syrup...

Thanks! Is that the link that has the instructions on growing them in containers?

I love to grow edibles, but so far am not very good at it except herbs.

I didn't look for growing instructions for containers as I haven't thought a lot about it lately. I have some ideas I would like to try. For one we have a lot of plastic 5 gallon pals in my parts that may work. I'll try and put them in order and get back. I can certainly explain it for gardens in the soil but containers will be an experiment. But so was the garden too.

Sounds like you really know what you're doing.

Our soil here is very heavy and clay-ey and I'm learning from experience that nothing grows well in it. That's why I want to give up and just go back to containers next year. Also I have a pretty shaded yard but a long sunny driveway.
