I haven't yet tried this, but it sounds cheap and I'd know what went into it. The reviews are good:

Gotta be a fake post. Not only does the recipe look wrong; (no oil, gelatin??) why on earth would anyone want to make Velveeta? That's like taking a hamster to the vet or a Bic pen in for repair.

This recipe calls for real cheese in order to make fake cheese.

A total moron could make a real cheese with some milk and lemon juice in half an hour.

I weep for the future.

On the contrary, if you want to spend the effort to make Jello cheese; I'm all for it. I anxiously await the tasting notes. Take some pictures.

Why would you spend the money on cheddar cheese to makea velveeta substitute? Down here in south TX velveeta is way cheaper than cheddar. ($4 for a two lb box versus $4 for an 8 oz chunk).

Wow, expensive. Today at the store here it was only $2.xx for 8 oz. Velveeta was $5.xx.

Gee, I'm glad I still live in Cheeseland. Here, it's about $4 a pound for a decent cheddar. An extemely sharp cheddar, say 7 years old will cost you between $8 to $10 a pound.
Velveeta is only for certain nacho dips.

My sis uses Velveeta for dips, and grilled cheese sandwiches...not exactly my favorite thing. But with this recipe, at least you do know what you're eating. I checked the site and there are some good recipes on it, which are very easy to adjust to one's liking. ~

For what it is worth, I like this velveeta recipe and copied it to my homemade recipes notebook. I love being able to make an expensive item into twice the amount of a similar product. Keep these recipes coming NicoleJ

Thanks Alice. I went to store and am confused. Is plain jello the same stuff that you find in the canning aisle?
