I bought a beautiful looking Flank steak on sale. I have no clue what to make. Does anyone have a good tender recipe? I was thinking of pinwheel steak or terriyaki. I am open to suggestions.

Thanks,
Lisa

YL-maybe make a marinade of soy sauce, ground ginger, honey or brown sugar, garlic, shot of white wine, pepper. Let it sit for a couple of hrs. Proper slicing is the trick!

Yes, it cooks much faster than you'd think. Grilling is best but you can also broil. Slice thinly and against the grain. I love the leftovers, they make a mean sandwich.

My [Mom's] marinade is similar to Lacey's but it omits the wine & sugar and adds toasted sesame seeds and sesame oil as well as green onions. Mom marinates overnight.

You can throw a foil packet of marinated mushrooms on the grill too, they'll take longer than the steak. Or you could thread them on skewers and they'll cook more quickly (and be more beautiful).

This one is called Ropa vieja (translated Old Clothes) One of my favorite recipes

1 2-1/2 lb. flank steak cut in half lengthwise
2 bay leaves
1 carrot sliced
2 onions julienne
1 T dry oregano
1 red pepper julienne
2 garli cloves
2 T olive oil
1/2 cup sherry
2 cups whole tomatoes canned
1 tsp ground cumin
salt and pepper

Boil flank steak with bay leaves carrots 1 onion and oregano with enough water to cover the ingredients. Cook for 1 to 1 1/2 hrs. Drain and let the meat cool. Cut into 2 inch cubes and then shred.
Saute the remaining onion peppers and garlic in olive oil until translucent, Deglaze with sherry. Add tomatoes and cumin. Cook for 15 minutes. Add the shredded meat and cook for 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

What about pounding the crap out of it and making it chicken fried style you know flour it and fry it and then putting it in either beef gravy or country gravy ? my hubby loves it that way and it tastes really great .

Flank steak makes bomb fajitas!
Make a marinade of lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper and cumin. Grill on a bbq or a raised grill-pan, serve with guacamole, a stack of nice tortillas and enjoy!
