I have some recipes with me and some I just remember. But this one tastes like spring. Enjoy

Buttermilk Cookies 2 1/2 c flour

1/2 c Butter 1/2 t baking soda

1 c sugar 1/2 t salt

1 egg 1 t baking powder

2t vanilla 1/2 c buttermilk

1. cream butter and sugar until fluffy then beat egg and vanillia in

2. combine flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda

3. add flour mix to sugar mix and add buttermilk

4. drop rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet

5. bake at 350 10-12 min until edges slightly brown

6. cool 5 mins then set on wire racks to cool

7. after cooled all the way frost

Frosting

3 tbl softened butter 3 1/2 c powdered sugar

1/4 c milk 1 t vanilla

1. put all in a bowl and mix.

For an extra kick omit vanilla and add strawberry extract makes them taste like a strawberry short cake.

Those sound delicious! We may make them for Easter and use sprinkles to make them more festive. Thanks for the recipe!

Thinking of trying royal icing for the first time. Do you think these buttermilk cookies would be a good match, or should I stick to sugar cookies? I've never made them, so I'm not sure about their crumbliness, texture, etc.
I have some buttermilk to use up, which is why I ask.

Thanks!
