We moved recently and my cookbooks are still in boxes, including a great recipe that I'd tucked into one of the books for an artichoke cream cheese dip that you bake inside a sourdough bread bowl. I'm going to a potluck tonight and would like to bring it. It has cream cheese, sour cream, possibly a little mayo? ... you saute chopped garlic and possibly a little onion, there is also green onion in it which gives nice color and flavor, and artichoke hearts. It might have a few more ingredients and I'm not sure of the proportions. You slice the top off a big sourdough bowl, scoop out the inside, bake the dip into it, and serve with another cubed sourdough loaf for dipping. Sound familiar, anyone?
1 lg. loaf rye - round
2 tbsp. butter
1 bunch green onions, chopped
6 cloves of garlic
8 oz. cream cheese
12 oz. grated cheddar cheese
16 oz. sour cream
2 cans artichokes, chopped
Cut hole in bread, remove center, save top (lid). Saute onions, butter, garlic until limp. Mix with other ingredients. Pour into bread. Place lid on. Double wrap in foil. Bake 2 hours or until hot at 350 degrees.
