Hello everyone. I hope all of you had wonderful Thanksgiving dinners. I am hunting an extremely reliable Parkerhouse Roll recipe. Over the years home made bread has been one thing I haven't done much. I love to cook and have a lot of special requests, but I've had mixed results with bread. For one gathering we special ordered the rolls from a bakery (another lady and I are going in on them together), but I'm thinking about making them for Christmas Day. Thanks in advance!

I went to the hotel in Boston that invented Parkerhouse Rolls a couple of years ago and had a late snack of them with homemade macaroni & cheese. What a great old place.

Here's the recipe I use -

Parker House Rolls

Melt : 1 1/2 C milk
3 Tbl sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 C butter
Let cool to lukewarm

In mixer disolve: 2 cakes yeast
in 1/2 C warm water

Add: 5-5 1/2 C flour to mixer
then add milk mixture
Mix till smooth with dough hook

Rise in covered bowl for 30 minutes
Form into rolls on lightly sprayed baking pans and let rise again
(I usually do this on the stovetop while preheating the oven)
Bake 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
