I'm new to making banana bread and I have a recipe that I like, but I would like to know something. If I wanted to use strawberries or blueberries instead of bananas, how much of either fruit should I put in? The recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3 bananas). If I wanted to use strawberries or blueberries instead of bananas, do I use the same amount? Or less, because berries have a higher water content?

Help!

Thanks!

I would use the same amount of blueberries (1 1/2 cups) but I am not sure about strawberries.... Because the recipe is relatively inexpensive to make, I would first try 1 1/2 cups of strawberries and then adjust in the future if necessary.

I am just guessing, but I'm pretty sure that bananas in banana bread are important to the stucture of the bread. I would use the bananas and then add some chopped berries to it.

I made the bread this weekend with 1 cup of mashed, thawed, frozen strawberries that I drained as well as I could. I think next time I make it with strawberries I will drain them longer or use only 3/4 cup, but it did turn out very tasty. Thanks for your suggestions.
