I never watched it, I dont glorify any TV program and do not base my lifestyle on fictional characters, therefore it has had no impact on me as a person, specifically a woman. I havent noticed any impact on society. I read part of the article, I always thought the show was about sex, not shopping! Go figure.

But by writing a show where the women basically sink to the level of men, that just seems like a big step backward. The show's defenders tried to dress it up as "female empowerment." That always made me laugh.
It's not a challenge for women to sleep with a lot men. Only certain men have the game to be able to do that.

Television is entertainment and it is a way to escape from life. I always loved Friends, but that didn't mean I wanted to move to New York, live in an apartment with my friends, and all hang out together constantly. I just enjoyed it, because it made me laugh. If you are this uptight about everything, maybe you should join a fundamentalist Christian group.

There are lots of women that actively emulate the sex and the city lifestyle.

Sales of the shoes in the show went up drastically as a result of the show.

How many men or so influenced by a fictional TV show?

I am a 36-year-old, suburban-living, minivan-driving mother of three. I don't have cable and have never watched a single episode of that show, but even I know who Snooki and the Situation are.

And how do you know that Sex and the City wasn't emulating a lifestyle that already existed in the real world for a certain class of women? That is, art may have been imitating life.

The Situation is some movie about the Iraq war? I think I might have seen that, but it's on something like HBO.
