What does it mean to be boring?

Everybody's different, and I'm sure everyone has their own story to tell. But, it seems that girls perceive outgoing people with flasy hobbies to be more "interesting". For example, the person who plays the piano is invariably more interesting than the person who plays boardgames. But, I don't get why girls are more interested in the pianist. If they like music then they can just buy a CD or attend free concerts. Personally, I find it odd that what I do during my free time is important to girls when whatever it is, I'll probably not do it with them. I've never seen a girl paint a picture with an artist, but girls are attracted to that kind of careers.

Also, it seems that outgoing people are considered not "boring". But, that's kind of weird because there's already a word to described people who are not outgoing and that's "shy", so why do we have to say that they're boring? Basically, the type of people who girls deem interesting are just merely outgoing and have exotic hobbies. If you disagree with this, then please give an example of a "boring" person.

EDIT: So it seems that "boring" is different from traits like "outgoing" because the former is subjective and varies among different people while everyone agrees what it means to be "outgoing".

To me boring is a person lacking quick wit and sense of humor. It has absolutely nothing to do with hobbies.

Mmmmm, lemme see. Naw, that would be a personal attack.

Are you a pre-teen? Teenager?

You are right on one count - everybody is different. Therefore, everybody's perception is different and boring to one person may be interesting to another. The definition of boring is: not interesting, tedious, or monotonous, which is subjective.

You've made some sweeping generalizations about people that simply aren't true, such as "shy" being boring. I wouldn't consider piano playing a "flasy" (sic) hobby either.

What you do in your spare time helps define you, for better or worse.

I find most people interesting. I don't expect others to entertain me..

Boring is relevant to the type of person "you" are..
To keep out of the "boring" category you should date people who have very similar interests..

for me to watch someone play the piano - although interesting and beautiful - would be boring for me.. watching someone play vid games all day - boring for me.. Watching to much TV is like watching paint dry - boring for me.
I love to fish and hike but a lot of people find that boring... I don't - doesn't mean i'm boring, just means i have different interests and hobbies..

So in answer to your question - what does it mean to be boring... - only YOU can answer that one.

To me boring people (especially men) know absolutely nothing about traditional "men" things. I know you think that PlayStation 3 is awesome and all but maybe a fishing trip would be more exciting? Also, the guys I run around with have balls. We don't want to hang around some kind of girly man who whimpers if he gets sweaty or dirty or breaks a nail!LMAO........ Man up you sissy and show em what you are made of! I also run around with my dad's friends as well. These guys are all man's men even their senior years. I bet most of them could still kick a 20 year old sissy boy's azz!LMAO.........

By that measure, this sounds like most of the women I know. Good thing for them, unlike men, they have something else to offer.

I wonder, do their girlfriends also find them boring or is this getting uncomfortably close to the root of the problem?
