How come African-Americans are referred as Blacks then?
Mexicans are known as Brown.

Sure they maybe Darker then you but that does not mean they are Brown.

Its either Light Black or Dark Black.
Black cannot be lightened or darkened. Black is Black, and very few human beings are actually Black. Most are Brown, and you can be dark or light brown.

considering how long the saying goes back and the way of the world then, coupled with Mae West referring to Cary Grant as tall, dark & handsome in She Done Him Wrong, I'd have to say hair color.

Because they're from Cuba. African Cubans. Descendants of slaves. My God, how obtuse can one be?

Did you know that in parts of Cuba, aspects of African culture (language, music, religious rituals) that are not even seen in Africa anymore are still preserved?

Dark to me refers to the eye area.
Hooded eye.
Circles... well not really circles but... you know the shadow effect women use but some people have naturally.

All about the eyes

African Americans are from America with African lineage. Just as African Cubans are from Cuba with African lineage, no?
