I always imagined the "dark" applied to some Latin or Mediterranean features. Dark hair olive complexion (or at least, not pale); although most Latins and Mediterraneans aren't tall, and some have various hair colors.
A least, that's what I always envsioned...i.e. Adam Rodriguez, Eduardo Verástegui, Antonio Sabato, Jr., Marios Lekkas, etc.
I have to say that "tall, dark, & handsome" is my most favorite combination...
I think it describes a very fit caucasian guy over 6 foot with thick, dark hair and a mysterious, aloof, slightly dangerous presence. He also may be a little scruffy w/5 o'clock shadow and thicker eyebrows. I don't think eye color matters. He tends to dress in dark colors.
I think of dangerous Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. Perhaps a "Dark Irish" man with light skin and thick black hair. I think many of the vampire actors perfectly demonstrate "tall, dark, and handsome..."
I once saw a 6' 5" man towering over a 5' 3" man screaming: I'm sick and tired of all your tall talk! Tall, tall, tall! Everything that comes out of your mouth is tall! Shorten it, man, before someone comes along makes you shorter!
Well, I have to say, that was an interesting twist for me, to call someone with a sky-high ego, tall.
I'm 6'2" a good share of the time, but sometimes someone comes along, when I've grown tall to 100 feet, and reduces me to a midget at 2'8". Sometimes, it takes just a word or two. Ooh, and is that painful, all that instant shrinkage!

America always steals Black culture. They stole Jazz, Rock and Roll, and it is now happening with Rap.
What is curious, is that African Americans completely abandon these things once they are stolen.
Steals Black culture? lmao All music evolves from earlier music. It was all stolen--if you want to call it that--from gospel. Most musicians acknowledge and respect, if not appreciate--that. It's all good.
Get Lance Armstrong, Johnny Depp, and Joe Jonas up on there.
