Never heard this term. Is it the male equivalent of a "girl crush," where it's girl-girl, or are you saying men shouldn't have crushes on women?

When a straight man has a "crush" on another man, not sexual but kind of idolizing him.
Many straight men end up having man crushes on Johnny Depp (I don't blame them).

A man who has a crush on another man without sexual attraction.
"Hey, Ted. I heard you spent the night over at Dave's."
"Yeah, we played twister and scrabble and watched movies, and spent all night talking, bizzatch."
"Dude, you're 35, acting like you're 12, and you're using his language. You've got a man crush."

A man having extreme admiration for another man, as though he wants to be him.

First used by radio personality Greg Henson of Detroit's "Motor City Middays"
"I've got one hell of a man crush on Hugh Hefner. He's made all the right moves."
From urbandictionary.com. So you see, a man started it.

I guess I have a woman crush on Sinead O'Connor. For some reason she fascinates me and I find her beautiful though I have no desire to "do" her or any other woman and I think it's the fact that her face is delicate and strong at the same time. Interestingly, she considers herself "mostly straight."

While we're on the subject though--when I was a teenager I had several extreme woman crushes--older girls or women who just fascinated me for whatever reason and it kind of freaked me out, but it wasn't sexual. I was relieved to read in a book that it was normal, esp at that age. I'm not sure I'd find it as normal for a 35 yo. though.

Exactly; therefore, the word "crush" is stupid and out of place as it implies sexual attraction.

Ron, we know you're an open minded guy but you've got to quit hanging out in the Gay section of CD.

When you post those pics of yourself at the gym, you're gonna get a few guys with "Man Crushes".

I love seeing two guys having a 'bro-mance.'

Like Justin Timberlake and SNL's Andy Samberg. Fun to watch. It's sweet. As a straight female it doesn't bother me in the least. In fact I think it's a nice thing!

lol

What's the problem? I've got no shame in having a 'man crush' on a couple of musicians, and it really isn't a sexual thing at all. It's more an admiration for their success and a desire to be like that. I'm not too proud to say I wish my life was different.
