Nobody owns the earth's resources so what's the problem?
Haven't you figured out that the government is not meant to and can't solve all your problems? I think you just don't want to make any personal effort to better your life.

In a perfect world made of marshmallows and rainbows I suppose you could apply your concept, whatever that is, but if you think no one owns the earth's resources, go ahead and try pitching a tent on the coast of Carmel California, the Hampton's, or Cape Cod and calling it home, let me know how that goes.

Incorrect. Resources are owned. Perhaps you wish the ownership was yours or under your direction (governance). I know that I would love to own a gold mine. Though I prefer a few producing oil wells.
As to materialism and relationships. This has a tenuous link to capitalism in that a materialistic society is often capitalistic. But than again, a socialistic society can have materialistic people as well. What you may want is a deeply religious society where materialism is a sin.
