I don't think most gay couples are married cause there's only a few states that even allow it.

The situation will only get worse and not due to the economy. With more people going for advanced degrees and moving around to work many put off marriage or are too busy to date or break up because of a move. Pretty soon they find themselves in their late 30's or 40's with less good marriage material out there. Or women discover that hey they can support themselves and put a roof over their head without a man's help so why marry.

Then there's all the oodles of socially/developmentally disabled kids now that have things like Aspergers and most of them will not get married. I've done volunteer work with Aspergers adults and hardly any ever get married or even date. I see so many young children on the spectrum now that its obvious the marriage rate is going to be way below 50% in a few years and this may already be a small problem as there are a lot of Aspie young adults now too.

While this is true in some ways, it has nothing to do with liberal media or liberal anything else.

I'm curious as to how you think the single people are getting the shaft versus the married people.

It's not surprising. Our country seems to prize hypocritical relationships of convenience and facades more than sincere relationships. I see it all the time. It's pathetic.

True. There is very little "liberal" media. Most is right wing so as not to offend society's cretins.

What has made marriage such a bad deal for men is an unlikely alliance between feminists and right wing fundamentalist legislators. Both like to stick it to single men, but for very different reasons.

No fault divorce (initiated by right wing Ronnie Reagan).

Usurious child support laws (designed as a more politically palatable way to supplement or if possible replace alimony and reduce the amount of welfare paid) enforced by jail time and frequent false allegations of abuse. Amounts are often far in excess of the cost of raising a child and in the end, usually support and indolent lifestyle.

Laws making cohabitation the same as marriage (after months or a couple of years). Fundamentalists hate people "living in sin" so they try to punish them.

All are the pet projects of right wing politicians with feminists as cheerleaders. They all have men running for the exit. This is how fundamentalist religion enforces its evil ways now days.

This is really nothing new. U.S. marriages have been going down for decades since feminism.

While there are a handful of women that would make good wives, overall marriage is a very dangerous venture for men.

I completely agree. So many women are not empowered to love and nurture their relationships. They have an ax to grind and they have absurd entitlement issues. If only more of the population were gay and or asexual! I do not date women as you know. However, when I get to know them, a very immature childish quality comes out and figuratively slaps me in the face. It's amazing how undeveloped so many people are. It applies to men, too. It's two ways. Our society nurtures these norms so that nobody improves or grows. The marriage shows that a lot of people do not care for relationships.
