Uhm, that is more of a birthday present for YOU not her. While fun and all it could be misconstrued or even insulting that she's just not sexy enough for you. Tred lightly in this area, or compliment it with a gift personal to just her - not you.

An overnight stay at a romantic bed and breakfast. I don't know where you live but with it being fall, there are some pretty places to go see some colorful leaves and foilage.

You could surprise her by telling her to pack an overnight bag and just get in the car and go. She won't know the destination until she's there. Have fun!

Personally, I treasure these types of surprises over jewelry or other gifts.

You know her better than we do.

Unless you have a clear idea of something she really wants, you could get her a number of nice, smaller gifts that span a pretty good guess of what she likes.

Maybe tickets to a show, some cool piece of athletic gear, a new handbag or backpack, a cooking gadget, and a scarf or other versatile article of clothing? That way you're likely to get one or two things right, and overall, she'll be happy at all of your thoughtfulness.

How big is your budget?

A friend of mine surprised his girlfriend with a weekend trip to Paris! Took her to the Eiffel Tower and proposed! Though with rioting in Paris, now may not be a good time to go.

I like the other suggestion - weekend at a bed and breakfast.

HUM... three years... jewelry (but not the engagement ring). There isn't a woman out there that doesn't like a piece of bling!

I'm not into jewelry.

I vote for the B&B weekend. Even one night would be heavenly. Make sure you get one that has private bathrooms!
