Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy Phil.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy Phil.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy Phil.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy Phil.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
Going back to your dark hole would be a perfect decision.
Here's a conversation we had back in the Dirty Pigs thread.
How are you NOT speaking for other people here? I acknowledged that I know you want a woman (although not a wife) to stay at home and clean your house, and that not everyone wants that. You insisted that men are born to work and take care of women, and that women are born to stay home and take care of men. You're not just talking about your own preferences.
"In my opinion" is a given. I shouldn't have to say it, I can't speak for others. I have no power or desire to make things my way--but it would certainly be nice if it was.
By the way, I'm not talking specifically about THAT thread, I'm talking about threads in general.
When you speak, I don't think you're speaking for ALL women. Because you're definitely not speaking for the kind that appeal to me.

I agree that "in my opinion" is a given, but when you say that women are born to do this or that, you are speaking about all women, not just the ones you find appealing. Also, if all women are interchangeable and equal, as you said in that other thread, it doesn't matter which woman you end up with, as long as she's A woman. We're all the same in your eyes. If you don't think it should matter to Braunwyn which man she's married to, why should you care which woman cleans your house? I don't understand how you can tell others that everyone is equal and interchangeable, only to switch gears here and talk about what appeals to you.
And yes, I realize that's your opinion. It's also a very unusual opinion that most people do not share. There has only been one other person on this board who has said such a thing that I have read, and that was a guy who thought that people should date and mate based on mere availability.
Okay, okay, look. In MY opinion, all women should not work outside the home, they have a responsibility to the home, that's their share of the work. The man's share--in MY opinion--is to bring home the money necessary to support the woman, while she does her share. Every woman--and every man--is capable of this.
But--as I said, the phrase "in my opinion" is ALWAYS a given. No matter who is speaking, "in my opinion" is an assumed part of their statements. I'm not going to ride someone just because I think their opinion is wrong. Instead, I'll give my OWN opinion. I shouldn't have to use IMO, because that is a GIVEN.
People on a message board express their opinons, because there are no objective truths in life. In my opinion. Everything is filtered through the lens of your personal reality.

You already said in another post: "nobodyshould make more than $10 an hour." That is not enough to provide a decent living for one let alone a significant other. I would really like to know what your idea of support is.

I've done it on less. She shopped, paid utilities, and even managed to put money aside to buy herself a car on that salary. Of course, we were only paying $165 a week in rent. That's less than half a week's income, at $10 an hour.
There isn't a "yes" or "no" to this. More like "yes" and "no".
I spoke for my son when he was a kid. I speak for him now when he is not there to say what I KNOW he would say, if the occasion arises. I'd speak for my mother, my sister, my brother or anyone else I know well enough and care about, in certain situations, and those situations vary. I speak for animals and abuse victims, those who can't speak for themselves.
On the message boards, there will be people, like Sierra said, who are way out there, disconnected from reality and/or pose opinion as fact. The "all women/men/people" comment is a good example. I would be speaking for others when I tell them they are wrong.
So many other scenarios, but no one answer to this.
